CD July 27, 2010 Lori Andahl (Bothell, WA United States) The service was fast and the product was as described. Thanks and I would use them again.
A Unique Masterpiece July 20, 2010 monkeyjunkie26 Keith Urban is an artist like no other. I have been a fan for over 5 years and I would have to say that this may be my favorite of all his cds. Each song has its own life and it would be a shame to skip even one on the entire album. Its practically impossible not to get up and dance to songs like Im In and Kiss a Girl. Til' Summer Comes Around is seriously chill inducing and Thank You, Keith's heartfelt song to wife Nicole, brings tears to my eyes everytime I hear it. I've found my future wedding song in the gorgeous, Only You Can Love Me This Way and can't help but song along to the upbeat Hit The Ground Runnin'.
Keith's work on this cd proves that he is an artist who is not afraid to wear his heart on his sleeve and that fact makes this cd a soul-bearing masterpiece. Its impossible to listen to this cd and not become a lifelong fan. I've had this cd in my stereo since I bought it last year and play it almost every day--I would recommend it to anyone in a heartbeat.
Pure Pleasure May 5, 2010 C. Middleton (Australia) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This New Zealand born guitarist, singer, song writer started his carreer in Brisbane Australia to then move to Nashville with a single bag of clothes and only his guitar on his back. Defying Gravity is considered by many critics as Urban's best produced album that he has put out to date.
This reviewer agrees whole heartedly.
We all have at least a little romance in us and Defying Gravity spills forth pure heart in every song.
Keith Urban's rise in Nashville is every country musician's dream. It is known when he was trying to find work, other musicians would let Keith sleep on their couches', until he landed a job as a studio musician as he can play: guitar, banjo, bass guitar, mandoline, piano, bouzouki and drums. The man's voice too, is melodic and perfect for any love song.
Defying gravity, released in 2009, is full of love songs - and all of them are a work of pure art.
My roomate, who doesn't necessarily like country music, commented, this CD is a "pleasure" to sit back and enjoy.
I agree without reservation.
Keith Urban Defying Gravity April 8, 2010 D. Caddell Keith Urban has such a remarkable voice. His talent shines through with every word he sings, and every note he strums on his guitar. The words roll off his tongue so clear and crisp, and you can't help but want to rush out and buy his album. He brings something new to the world of country music that no one has ever quite seen before.
His style of music is like nothing you've ever heard before. He's definitely not your average country singer. Instead of going on with a southern drawl, he has a much clearer voice. His songs are full of love, and passion, not bars and cars. Keith Urban has certainly taken things to the next level.
It's very surprising how incredible this country singer is considering he grew up in Australia. You don't even notice his accent when he's singing. His songs flow from his heart about where he is now with his marriage, daughter, and earlier days. Each song has a beautiful message within it.
If you haven't bought this album yet you need to. You wont regret it, and you'll probably be listening to him everyday for the next year. I can't wait until his next album comes out, because I'm sure it will be even better than this one. It will be hard to top Defying Gravity, but I'm sure he will.
Defiance March 15, 2010 Nicholas Alla Koholick Keith Urban is addicted to defiance. He's defied expectations (he's an Australian singing American heartland country-pop with a perfect twang), defied a downward slump (2006's Love, Pain, and the Whole Crazy Thing was a downbeat disappointment that no one thought he'd recover from), and defied critics of his popularity (he employs enough banjos, steel guitars and virtuoso soloing chops to justify himself as a "real musician").
His latest album is titled Defying Gravity. And defy he certainly does. Lead single "Sweet Thing" exemplifies the standard Keith Urban hit, with an upbeat chorus and plenty of firecracker guitar-work, this time employing a chiming effect that recalls late '80s U2. Is it groundbreaking? No, just another feel-good tune that Urban can notch into his belt. But it's distinctly him, and positive enough to indicate he's gotten over his unfortunate previous album.
Opener "Kiss a Girl" has the same country / rock / pop mile-wide-smile mid-tempo groove of "Sweet Thing," and spacey, heartfelt ballads like "If Ever I Could Love" and "Til Summer Comes Around" round out the album. Urban still throws in a few licks that showcase his Grammy-winning guitar prowess, and a couple of well-timed falsettos prove he's no vocal slouch, either. All in all an admirable, if not re-inventive, return to form.
It's March. Roll down the window, crank "Hit the Ground Runnin'" and kick off the better weather.
